RedRam, i think ive got you beat, was reading your post and said hmmm what can i do that will out do redram. Like i told you im not into wiring (ie cab lights), this is what i came up with.
first pics are what you wanted to see (factory under hood light), so after seeing this post last night i dreamed up this bad boy (3 D cell mag light with LED bulb not the cheap 2 dollar normal mag bulb, this bulb costs 18 bucks alone) supplies needed, 2 hose clamps and a bungee cord and a flat head screwdriver. I was gonna tap a hole in the rear (hrm what are you thinking about???) of the mag and put a eyelet and nut on it. Then remembered these flashlights are waterproof and didnt want to screw with putting an O ring on. You know, even though i thought this up as a gag, it aint that bad, nice broad light, tilts it easily, frees both hands.
Last pic is what really works, its great, 5 bucks up thar at the walmart. It has a pivoting magnetic base, great for under truck work, engine area and even beaming a light to my tailgate when i have my tools laid out and its dusk and youre trying to find the F'ing 13mm socket. It comes with a 10 foot 12volt dc car plug and winds up into the unit.
