Best Lift Kit 4 Ride Quality ???
I just wanted to hear from anyone who has lifted their 3rd gen and how it rides afterword? I just got my 1500 QC and i want bout a 5inch lift, Rancho, Rough Country, Skyjacker, and Superlift were what i had been looking at... Im not doing much off-road, so i mainly want ride quality. thanks 4 any info
Had never done a suspension lift before this truck. Four body lifts over the last twenty years or so, but my '04 was the first suspension lift I had done. I had the luxury of being able to drive or at least ride in most brands as over a dozen guys in my hunting club have suspension lifted trucks.
Since I was convinced at not going over 35" on the tires on an IFS truck, anything from 4-6" was OK. After driving trucks with lifts by Rancho, Superlift, Skyjacker, Fabtech & ProComp, I found that the best handling one was a 2000 Chevy Z71 with the Rancho Kit. I thought it was night & day better than the others, so I went with it.
Almost all of my friends with lifted trucks now agree that my 4" Rancho lift, on my '04 1500 rides better both on & off pavement than their lifted trucks. I don't really think that the Rancho is way better than the others, I just think that probably the 4" kit has a little lower center of gravity than the 5.5-6" kits and therefore handles quite a bit better.

I've never been a fan of Rough Country. I would go with some of the better ones like RCD, Skyjacker, Fabtec, Kore or Rancho.
Mine has a real nice smooth ride to it, even hard to believe its lifted. Again you have to match the lift up with some good shocks and you'll love the ride.

You'll be very pleased with the Rancho lift. The 4" of lift looks really good with 35" tires. Here's a couple pics of mine...

if your going to get a lift, go big or go home. seriously. a 4 inch barely looks like you did anything. You can get a leveling kit for $200 and fit 35s. if your going to spend the extra money for a real lift, dont get a 4 inch, get a 6 inch. its only like $100 or so more. also, keep in mind, that once you lift your truck, it will never ride the same again. ever. your truck will wander, so dont be complaining bout that cause itll do it gauranteed. even if your alignment is as good as it can get.
hammer, have u noticed drastic difference in the ride with your 4in lift? i didnt wanna get the 6in for the simple reason i dont need it and i dont want the ride worse that has to be. also can u really level it out for only 200 or so and still get 35" under there 4sure? if so i might just do that unless this is a huge downfall to a level kit...... sorry 4 all the new-b comments btw im still learning
