Default p0440

2004 Ram RC 3.7L 64,000 miles
So I get this code p0440 when my fuel gets down to 3/8 or so. I have replaced the gas cap. No change. Besides not letting it get down that low does anyone have any suggestions. I have included some info on the code below. So another question is where is this said purge valve and charcoal canister? Is the dealer the only place to get one. Thank you in advance for your help.

A code P0440 could mean one or more of the following has happened: [ul][*]The gas cap is not installed or working properly[*]The purge solenoid has failed[*]The canister is plugged and not working properly[/ul]

Uh yes, I have a suggestion. Check the rubber lines to and from the charcoal canister. After a couple of years they start leaking and cause the evap code. I'm replacing mine this summer with silicone lines (autozone) as I do a lot of salt ridden winter driving, and it sucks to work on em when its cold ands covered in slush, ice, and mud. The canister should be up in the frame rails behind the drivers side.

Good Luck!!!
