theres a sound like on a pressure cooker when the steem is being released that my truck makes when the wheel is hard right or left. is that normal?

Check your power steering fluid level. The other day my '04 had a slight "hiss" as soon as I started it up and moved the steering wheel. My fluid level was way down. I guess it had been gradually leaking for the last 4 years. Anyway, I topped it off with ATF+4 and the "hiss/whine" went away immediately. Hope your problem is as minor.

 

i think its normal...as long as it only makes that noise when the wheel is completely turned in one direction....does it stop if u turn it back?

 

Yeah it'll stop right away. Just went to auto store, had checked the level was at lower marker (cold) so filled it up a bit. Sounds much better. Still a small hiss. But a big improvement. Thanks.
