Default Amplifier Installation

Folks,

I am installing a amp sub package on a 2004 Quad cab this weekend and I am having some issues on Amp placement. I would like to install the amp on the wall behind the rear seat (which i saw on this forum), but the amp extends over the black vents located behind the rear seats. My question is, can I remove one of the black vents without causing any problems to the truck. The amp is too big to go anywhere else...Here is a link to the amp:
http://cgi.ebay.com/NEW-2007-CLARION...QQcmdZViewItem

The amp will not fit under the seats due to the size. Also, the box is a custom box which extends across the entire bottom of the rear seats. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

I am 99% sure...I am going to see if maybe I can remove the seat and then get it to fit, but the amp is 22" long and 12" wide and 2.5" thick....

I have the same type of box and also am looking at an larger amp dimension wise, I just raised my backseat a few inches and with the added clearance I can install the amp between the subs on the box under the back bench.

See my photo gallery or the interior modifications forum. Of note though, I did this knowing that I don't often have backseat passengers and mainly for the added clearance as I'm not sure to what kind of load handling the results may have now, in case of an accident.

I checked out those pics but I still not quite sure how you did that? Can you give me a little description if you have time.

Well, in my '05 Ram, the back seat bench has a bracket that is connected to the underside of the seat then to the actual truck itself. I just took the bolts holding the bracket to the truck out and lifted the entire seat and replaced the factory bolt with a much longer one, and filled the space created with the washers. Very simple to do, but would be nice to have a buddy to help you, as the backseat is a little heavy and cumbersome to be handling single-handedly.
