how is it easier for the 02 to 05's im gonna put my old ones in the oven in a few minutes just to pull them apart for the hell of it

The 02 to 05s headlights are sealed by a sticky silicne type sealant that once soft it loosens up.The 06+ use a more havy duty sealnt that doesnt melt like the 02 05s.Nstead they just lose its grip on the plastic pieces.

ok, i just did my passenger headlight, removed the lens and took it apart and taped where i want chrome to stay. but when i go ahead and do the 06-08 headlights...what do i need to do to take it apart?

I suggest you get a practice light from ebay or somewhere.You need to be very carefully with them.the plastic material in the 06+is alot weaker that the old ones.It it a more involved and time consuming process.check out the link I posted earlier it should help out a bit.

thats pretty much what im doing. i put in projector headlights last week so i have the OEM ones just laying around, so i decided i would practice on these first. i still dont really understand why the 06 would be so much harder...same concept right

Irs harder because they deform easier than the 02to05.The glue it uses doesnt melt and its alot harder to seperate.the key on those is to keep the headight hot with out melting it.You have to seperate them section by section.you heat them.seperate them a bit.then reheat.and keep doing that until you get em apart.

What temp did you put them in for and for how long?
