question on differential

i just bot an '03 ram 1500 qc and i was wondering if i wud ruin the differential by applying dw-40 to it. i dont want it to get all rustedand junk

Anything and Everything will stick to the WD40, making a hell of a mess. If you are worried about the underside of your truck and components getting rusted, have it undercoated...

You would be better off to prime and paint it or undercoat it.

Just clean/prime & paint it.

Undercoating looks nasty & if you ever have to tear into it or the brake lines, wrenches orsockets won't fit till you clean them off.

Wire brush the bigger rust spots, then just brush on some rustoleum gloss black. Works wonders.
