hemi problems
i was wondering if anyone out there has experienced any problems with the electronic throttle control module on the hemi....? i have an '03 hemi ram with 47, 000 miles.
my hemi was running great until just the other day. i was cruising along and then the motor just laid down and wouldn't run. sounded like it wasn't getting fuel and only running on a few cylinders. all of this happened unexpectedly. i'm just glad that traffic was light.
anyways, i limped it back home and checked everything over. nothing visually out of place. i did the ignition key trick to read the computer codes. the codes that pop up are multiple cylinder misfire and electronic throttle control module performance and electronic throttle control forced-limited power.
i called the dealer, but they won't offer any assistance without money. i'm out of warranty already. they say the electronic stuff is not part of the 7/70 powertrain warranty.
anyone have any ideas or similar experiences? looks like the throttle control sensor/module is not offered in the aftermarket yet. i hate to spend a lot of money at the dealer if it's something simple that i can fix myself........

This doesn't make much sense to me. The sensor and throttle control have to be covered since it's part of the powertrain. Does this mean that the PCM is not covered either?

Codes don't pop up for the engine anymore, they may for dash functions only. You have to have a reader for the engine diagnostic codes.

I finally decided t take the hemi to the dealer. They scanned the computer and didn't see any problems there. The service department says that the problem is internal. They suspect something broken in the top end of the motor. They only have one engine tech guy that can work on it, and he's on vacation until the beginning of January. I'll know more about what's wrong next week.
As far as the Ignition key check, I turned the key on and off like three times and then the codes popped up one after the other in the odometer screen on the dash. Once all the codes are posted it says that the scan is done and the odometer comes back on.
As far as the throttle sensor stuff, the dealer says that is not covered under warranty. At least that's not the problem here, even though it seemed like it was initially. The PCM is covered for like 80,000 miles or something.
Thanks for the replies.
