Default temp control switch

Just thought of another problem I am having with my 2003 Ram 1500, when using the temp control switch on the hot position it works fine but when I move it to the cold position only hot air comes out. Makes no difference if I use air conditioner or the vent I only get hot air. First thing in the morning it works fine I can switch from hot to cold but when the truck warms I only get hot air. Do you think maybe the switch is bad or is it the control mechanism?

I had the same problem on my 05 2500 im not sure if the systems are the same but you could try it. Behind the glove box at the passanger side you will have the AC/Heat actuator it black with a metal arm. when you switch from hot to cold the arm should move. if the arm dosn't move you provably have a problem with the electromechanical actuator. you will need a phillips screw driver to remove the dash its easy. Good luck.

Sounds like a blend door problem...the air can go cold in the morning because the coolant hasn't heated the heater core yet. Once the core is hot it'll over power any cold air even from the a/c unless the door blocks it off.
