Default RE: Resonator: one on or both off?

To my knowledge 2500's / PowerWagons (at least for 2005) didn't come with any stinkin' resonators so I didn't have to deal with this issue....I installed the Magnaflow system and think it sounds sweet...not too loud, but not wimpy like the stock system. But again I enjoy "pipe music" so what others may consider too loud or drone doesn't sound bad to me...all personal opinion. A cherry bomb may be another story....I'd say ditch the reso's try it, if you think it's to loud put one back in....

Thinking about it more....your going with a Cherry Bomb presumabley because of their reputation, which as I rememeber meant loud (or for the "extreme" means damn near straight pipes)....so if that's your muffler of choice why are you worrying about noise?? Just saying if that's an issue maybe there's another brand of muffler that suites your tastes better?

Actually, the biggest reason I have the Cherry Bomb was because I got such a sweet deal on it, I couldn't pass it up. That being said, I wouldn't mind the loudness from the exterior. However, I do care about the drone from in the cab especially with having MDS, the sound just sucks when MDS kicks in.

I used to have a Charger, and when I put in a new exhaust, I took out all resos, and the inside drone from MDS kickin' in was sooo mind-numbing! You do bring up a good point though, I think I will keep the front one on initially and run with it for a while. I can always take it out later if I want it louder. Thanks!

considering I am someone who would rather hear an engine than a radio i am prolly biased.......before I sold my Borla Exhaust (what a nightmare that was) I cut the resonator off completely and drilled symetrical holes in the muffler......added to no resonator on the engine....sounds wicked real wicked but like i said I like engine drone

If I'm not mistaken the 07 Quad Cab's only have 1 resonator, the standard cabs have 2....

Mine only had one, the rear, and I removed it... No regrets here....

I left both on at first with a magnaflow...it was barely louder then stock which was too quiet for me. I removed the rear resonator and love it....little louder and still has a great tone.

Cut everything off after the CAT and put a Super 40 on. Sounds great to me.

Well, appontment is set for tomorrow morning. I will be doing what you did, leaving the front reso on for now. The muffler guy said he'll take it off later free of charge if I decide I want it off.

Well, its done! And I LOVE IT!!!

I left the front resonator on, and I hear almost zero drone in the cab, but it still growls real nice!! Couldn't be happier!
