Default Got my truck back. Horror story inside.

For those that don't know my story, I had my truck for a little over a month and it has gone to the dealership twice for electrical problems. The 2nd time I took it in they had it for over 9 days and I got it back yesterday. Anyways here goes,

Well, I got my truck back yesterday. When I get there the service advisor tells me that the problem was a harness that was pinched by a screw. He also told me that they had to replace the cluster and the left visor but when I asked him why, he really couldn’t explain the reason. Ok, so I get in my truck to check everything. First I notice that the left visor does not stay neatly tucked in like it used to, instead it sags about half an inch from the ceiling. So I let the advisor know and he tells me “ok I will order it and come back Tuesday and we will install it for you.” I was a little pissed off because my truck had already been there for about 10 days, but I said OK I will bring it in. So I get home and I thought, hmmm what else could be wrong, I decide to open the hood, what do I see? The lid to the fuse box holding on to dear life with the 2 front tabs. It appears the mechanic broke the hinges off the fuse box! So I called and spoke to the service manager, and he tells me “oh, I am sorry let me find out if we are going to have to change the entire box or not and I will get back to you.” I told him of course you are going to have to change the entire box, the hinges are broken! I then do a longer check of the interior, I noticed that the center console had a gap between it and the storage unit, so I pushed it in and it snapped back in place. I then noticed scuff marks all over the place were they stuck the screw driver to take apart the panels. I also noticed one more thing, I could be wrong, but I was pretty sure that there is a foam pad between the windshield and the dash board but its missing from my truck. The reason I noticed it, is because I can see the reflection of the dash now. Can someone please check their 06+ ram and tell me if there is a foam pad there or not? This way I will tell them to replace this too. Thanks I am so pissed off right now, this truck will never feel the same way again. I can’t believe this happened not even 2 months into owning it. Do you guys think there is someone I should complain to? I don’t know what else to do. P.S. Word of advice to everyone, when you get your vehicle back from the dealership, CHECK EVERYTHING!.

Sorry to hear about all the problems that the dealership has caused, what a pain! If they don't fix it correctly soon you may have to get a lawyer to weight out your options!

Sorry to hear that they didn't take better care of your truck. Did they happen to say where the screw was that was pinching the wire?

I think he said behind the right visor, behind the cieling panel. By any chance do you know if there is a foam pad between the windshield and the dash?

I wrote a letter to Chrysler LLC. Please tell me what you guys think.

To whom it may concern, In late January of 2008, I purchased a new 2007 Dodge Ram (VIN: ******) from El Monte Dodge in California. When I took the truck home that night I noticed that none of my interior lights were working. No dashboard lights, cluster, vanity mirrors, map lights, dome lights etc. I had to take the truck in for repair the very next day that I purchased it. The dealership had it for a day and called me back saying that a fuse was burned. After about a week of having the vehicle back from the dealership I started having problems with my lights again. Sometimes they would work, sometimes not. I decided to take the truck back to the dealership for repair a second time. The dealer kept my truck for almost 10 days! During the time that the dealer had my truck, the service advisor did not really know what was going on with my truck, he did try his best to keep me updated on the issues but still had no real solid information on what was wrong with my truck. On 3/06/08 I called the Chrysler customer service line and explained to the representative my troubles with my truck and I wanted to know what Chrysler does for its customers with the issues that I have been having. Keep in mind that my truck didn’t even hit the 1,500 miles mark yet. The representative told me she would call the dealership and get more information from them. I finally get a call back the next day. The representative told me no useful information, she told me what I already knew, she told me my truck was being worked on and that she would attempt to give them more resources to fix it. I was expecting more from a company, who its customer had so many problems with the vehicle not even 2 months into the purchase, and has the loan with Chrysler Financial for the amount of $34,000. I finally picked up my vehicle on 03/07/08. When I get there the service advisor tells me that the problem was a harness that was pinched by a screw. He also told me that they had to replace the cluster and the left visor but when I asked him why, he really couldn’t explain the reason.

I get in my truck to check everything. First I notice that the left visor does not stay neatly tucked in like it used to, instead it sags about half an inch from the ceiling. So I let the advisor know and he tells me “Ok I will order it and you have to come back Tuesday and we will install it for you.” I was a little upset because my truck had already been there for about 10 days, but I said OK I will bring it in.

So I get home and I decide to open the hood, what do I see? The lid to the fuse box was barely holding on with the 2 front tabs.
I now have to waste more of my time to take the truck back to the dealership for problems that they caused. My truck no longer has the “new” feeling to me. I can not believe that a truck with only 1,500 miles, has had so many problems with it. I am making a monthly payment of $655 to Chrysler Financial for a vehicle I no longer enjoy. Why? Because every time I get inside the vehicle I am constantly reminded of all the hands that went through my vehicle due to the scuff marks on the interior. I would expect that a customer with so many problems from the start, would have been treated a lot better OR should have received a new vehicle from Chrysler. Thank you Chrysler, for the many sleepless nights that you have caused me. I am already looking into getting rid of the vehicle, and I can guarantee that this will be my last purchase on any Chrysler vehicle. Thanks for your time,

Yeah dealers are not that careful with people’s cars, I had taken in my Camry for a recall a few years ago and they had to take off the front rims. So when I got it back, they had tightened them too tight and warped the rotors. So I called them and took it back, they replaced them, it wasn't the same, I ended up putting some brimbo rotors on it. Then a few months ago I took it in for a $3,000 job, timing belt, and a bunch of other things it needed (lots of miles on it) when I got it back two bolts are missing. Also, my blazer had to have the oil pan replaced when I want to change the oil in it the first time after I bought it (it was used but only a year and a half old) I bought it from a GMC dealer. ALWAYS inspect your vehicles when you get them back. And leave nothing of value in them.

My '06 doesn't have any padding between the dash & windshield. When I cram my finger in by the windshield I feel metal.

Good Letter by the way. Sorry to hear it didn't get fixed properly.

Speed Safely,
