Question on a 600 watt amp
My gf's father gave me a 600 watt amp today. I want to use it but I am not sure if its what I need. It said its a 600 watt max power 1-2-3 channel with 150 max rms per 2 channel. I installed some 6x9 pionners with 460 max watts and 85 rms like 2 weeks ago. So basicly will this amp just barley power the two 6x9s? I am a newb to car audio. Also does this mean I have to take the door panels back off and re wire the amp to the 6x9's... Or just to the battery terminal and headunit
Thanks
btw I have a new Pionner headunit with 45 watt built in amp

RE: Question on a 600 watt amp
What brand is the amplifier?
If im reading this right you have a 600 watt amp and it says 150x2 rms...so without all the details ill try to answer. Usually a 600 watt amp is rated at 150x2 @4ohms 300x2 @ 2 ohms or 600x1 @4 ohms bridged. You can hook up thr 6x9's to the amp but theres a possibility you'll blow up the speakers. Save this amp to run some subwoofers. I personally would just hook the 6x9's up to the head unit...theywill sound fine
P.S. your pioneer head unit internal amplifier is rated at 45 watts peak but in actuality is about 13 or 14 watts rms
P.S.S. peak power numbers are for advertising...rms rating is the only thing that matters
