Default Spare Tire

If you make a switch in tire size to tires that are only 1-2 inches bigger do you need to get five so you have one for a spare or would this just make your existing spare a "compact spare tire?" Would you be able to use the old spare for a short time?

Size difference is size difference. Especially on a 4X4, (if thats what you got). I wouldnt take a chance on tearing **** up running an odd size tire even if for just a short amout of time. Just my .02 cents.

Strongly not recommended on a 4x4, especially up front. I have the issue because there is no friggin' way of putting a 35" tire underneath and I carry an ATV in the bed most of the time I go to "play".
Good thing my Cepek's are very puncture resistant. I've put 'em through hell and never came close to a flat...

just get a used tire with a larger sidewall for your spare (using oem rim) and save some money. just make sure it will clear your exhaust and diff cover.
