Default Help please

Allright fellow brethren I have a question for you. I have an 03 Ram 1500 4.7 with 91,000mi. I have a power steering leak. Long story short: Would the leak cause the Check Engine light to come on? I put more fluid in and I reset the computer. The light has not returned as of yet. If it does, what type of scanner does the 03 ram use. I.E. OBD II.

The truck never got that whine, and it was never hard to turn. The fluid just got low and I refilled it. Anyways, the light still has not returned. So maybe I got lucky. oh yeah, could someone tell me what type of scanner I need to read codes.
