Default Backfiring an 02 4.7 automatic.

Is it possible? If so, how?

I have no cat, no muffler, just 3" pipe dumped off to the ground behind the cab.

Sounds like it is backfireing due to not have any back pressure. did it start when you removed the exhaust?

Yea I don't see why you'd want it to backfire...unless you're talking about a backpressue pop. But a backfire and a BP pop are two different things completely..
