Default Chatter at cold start

I have a 05 Ram 1500 with the hemi, 4x4, quad cab. Have noticed chatter at cold start. Sounds like noisy rockers. Quiets down shortly after running, but have noticed it more lately.

Is this a known issue? Repair needed? Or just the design of the push rods and lifters for this design?

Sounds like the infamous "Hemi-tick". Many of us have the issue, never heard where it really hurts anything and it has to be really bad before the dealer will do anything about it. You could do a search on here, other forums or even Google it and read about it to your heart's content...

Good to know that it is common place. I still have 12k until warranty is up. See what happens up until that.

Does the computer on board track when it has been programmed by a tuner ? I have it programmed by superchips, but if I set it back to stock, will the dealer know it was touched?

Disconnect the tuner and if you have CAI, take it off before going in for service. Make it all stock so the dealer can't try to weasel out because of a mod. Example: CAI made the rear end blow etc. Some dealers will try to put blame on anything. Others are not as picky but why chance it.

I know earlier 5.7s had a recall but not sure of yours. Go to dodge.com and do a recall search for your VIN.
