Ask them specifically where the leak is. If it's the rack then its most like the top slip on hose. This is very common for these trucks (do a search on the forum). A $1 hose clamp will fix it.

I wouldn't want to say that all dealers are bad, but I would say that you have to be cautious when dealing with some of them, especially when they give you quick answers to cover things that they say. As in when the guy told me I need an alignment and I told him I couldn't believe that since they(dealer) just did one less than a year ago and he comes back with, well we recommend doing it twice a year. I raised the B.S. flag on that one.

I have done a couple R&P's on the dodge trucks. They are by far one of the easiest I have ever done. There are 2 bolts holding it in. The 2 outer tie rod bolts. The bolt connecting it to the intermediate shaft. and the two hoses. once you get the bolts out and the outer tie rods off it pretty much falls in your lap.
P.S. by the way the hoses on this R&P have a compresion style fitting between the rubber hose and the metal pipe so a $1 hose clamp will not fix it. Also if you look underneath it's the end seals that leak the fluid into the boots (There should be no fluid in the boots). If you poke a hole in the boot you will get fluid to run out. (NOTE: only poke a hole in the boot to confirm it, otherwise dirt can get in there and ruin the seals)
There $1000 price was still to high though. I found one for my 04 truck for 168 although I work at a used car dealership.
