so ive heard quite a few times that putting HIDs in aftermarket projector headlights will cause them to burn and heres an actual link that describes this problem

i want to know once and for all if this is some myth and DO NOT put HIDs in with aftermarket projectors....or is it completly fine and i should not worry about burning?

id rather not melt my headlights...haha, so ill get some decent info before i even consider getting some.

 

mmstar, here's the deal SOME aftermarket headlights are fit for Xenon, however most are not. They say HID and blah blah but aren't seriously meant for true Xenon bulbs most are based for halogen bulbs and yes will melt). I have my 6000k both heads and fogs installed already. Heads are F'n bright but look great. Fogs are perfect. However in most states and here in VA having a spread beyond the side of your truck is illegal. So I've decided to do a little modding to my Headlights.

I'm going to install Chrystler Crossfire High Beam projectors in my stock Headlights. They are 3" diameter and should (i hope) fit the xenons i've already installed. I have a few concerns already but we'll see first as i said they're High Beam headlights so we'll see what the focus is like or if it even effects it at all. second mounting the projectors, i'm playing with a few idea's but we'll see.

oh ps another reason i don't like the aftermarket headlights is it splits it into two beams a majority of the time aka twice the lights, not a fan.
