I feel sorry for all of you have to go through that crap! Here in Wyoming, NOTHING gets inspected. No standard inspections, no smog tests, nothing. Period. If you want something inspected, it's because YOU wanted it, not the state. I couldn't imagine the government telling me what I can and can't have on my truck...

 

Jersey blows, just register it in another state, not NY they are horrible about everything.

 

I didn't have any tint when I got mine. I only had to get one because I bought my truck in Missouri but I live in kansas.

 

Yep, here in NY it's the same deal. Front windows must have at least 70% light transmission.
Factory tinted glass is usually around 72-78%, so obviously any added film will make it illegal.
The only difference is that here it's not part of the state inspection. So you can get approved for afresh inspection sticker, drive out of the inspection station, then get pulled over and handed a ticket!

 

I dont' know if Pennsylvania is as bad as it used to be (northeast), but when I was there they enforced window tint, oversized tires, bumber height, etc pretty hard. I know quite a few people who received citations for that kinda stuff. I don't believe it was part of the inspection process, but as said, the cops could pull you over for it anytime they want. Usually it was a "fixit ticket", but it's not unheard of to get fined the first time out of the gate.

On one hand I love Arkansas because there is no inspection. On the other hand, you should see some of the **** that is on the road here...

 

haha, im fron retarded jersey and just got my front windows tinted hours ago... first of all never go to state inspection unless your truck/car is 100% stock!! bring it to a local guy.. as long as emissions r ok they'll usually pass with tint.. and hint: if they do pass u with tint, bring them a case of beer as a thank you so the next time u need "something" theyll hook you up!! what part of jersey r u from? i know some guys around me thatll prob help u out.

Here in PA they cant fail you anymore for Tint. And when they could fail you, i would just roll down the windows and pull the fuse. There is not working window law for inspection.

 

im from essex.. like half hour from ya. i go to sussex a lot to hunt and go camping.. i know a few people around here that"ll prob pass ya, but they're not free.. most private places charge

 

Florida used to have inspections -- brakes, tires, outside lights, wipers. Smog in some areas, I think. Sometimes it would take hours to go through the inspection. They were discontinued many years ago. I took many cars through I wasn't even comfortable driving to the inspection site. They all passed. It was basically a joke and an additional revenue source for the state.
