Question about infinity 7 speaker vs. standard 4 speaker systems?

I have the opportunity to get for free from my brother in-law,all 7 infinity speakers and amplifier out of an 08 2500 Mega Laramie, he is trading it in. I was wondering where exactly the amplifier is located and should all the wires be in my 08 1500 Mega SXT for plug and play? If not what do I need to get off the Laramie to make this system work in my truck.I didn't see any wires undermy dash for the 3 dash mounted speakers, is there a seperate harness that I can get off the Laramie? Thanks for any help you guys can offer. I know it's not a spectacular system, but it is free and better than the standard 4 speaker system.

To the best of my knowledge the built in amp is located behind the glove box. Not sure if you'd need anything additional off the original truck to transfer it to yours, as long as you are familiar with how to rewire it.

hey, if i were you, id keep the reg speakers. they sound the same as the infinity speakers. i had an older ram with the 4 speakers and now have a laramie with the infinity system. same thing. just a diff name. if you can, get yourself aftermarket speakers. not some used stock ones.

I had an 01 Ram with stock speakers and an aftermarket head unit and it still didn't sound as good as the Infinity system in my 05 Ram, both were regular cabs with all stock speakers. And no they weren't even close in sound quality. The stock speakers in the second gen Rams were CRAP!

I have the infinity sytem on my 07. I can't say it sucks, but it aint great either. I wish I would have gotten the 4 speaker sytem, that way I would just upgrade everything. I don't feel like adding a system to my truck since it already kinda has one. If I were you, just buy a new head unit, 4 nice speakers, 4 channel amp, maybe a mono amp plus subs and just put in a system. I dont think you will be able to add the infinity system. It runs of the computer if I am not mistaken.
