what about this, what do you guys think if i just get a 3inch body lift and a leveling kit for my truck. since my truck is a 2wd. i dont know i have the cash for a nice big lift. but if i do the body lift and the leveling kit would i still need new gears. what about tires should i just stay with the stock ones i got now or go buy some new ones.

Level kit with body lift would be a nice look for your 4x2!
Gears are not needed for the lift, they are for the bigger tires. If you stay stock, you'd not need the gears. But I think you'd want to go to bigger tires with that much lift (the level/body lift combo you are talking would give you near 5" in the front). I think you'd need 33's minimum to make it look decent, more like 35's though. If you have stock 3.92's you'd be OK. If you have stock 3.55's you won't be able to get out of your own way and should opt for 4.10 or 4.56 gears.
Besides, with a 4x2 the gears & install wouldn't be that bad since only the rear needs to be done. Use some of the money you save by going with the body lift and get you a nice LSD like an Auburn when you do the gears. In a 4x2 it'll make a huge traction difference...

Itll be more economical, youll want new shoes cause it'll look funny with stickers on em. Hammers right about the ride quality but since it'll be street only I don't know how much diff the susp lift ride quality would be. Maybe hammer can be more specific on street driving only.

I don't know if this thread is going anywhere, there is too many If I do/don't. I had the lift and tires last year, but blew up a trans too, thats wheni regeared to 4.56 and a detroit locker and I am very happy with it.
Lift your truck, get a better rear differential, new gearset, and you will be very happy you did, even with 2wd. The majority of us that get stuck real easy in 2wd is mainly cause we don't have a very good LSD.
