Default Painting a grill by yourself

I was just wondering if anyone has painted their chrome grills to match the truck? I don't mean taking it to a paint shop, I mean actually painting it by yourself.

I just replaced my factory grille and I'll tell ya it sucks to get off. The 06's do anyway. My original is so torn up now I wont be able to put the original back in if i wanted to.

I painted mine, using Dupli-color products.

Im want to paint all my bumpers grill and lights black since im getting tinted windows. The sport has that fiberglass bumper but mines the steel so i took off that plastic wind guard underneath. I think my front bumper would look great black. The grill I want black since i have the plastic honey comb still grill insert. I pretty much want my truck so black You have to look twice just to see what it is. Where do you get the color code these things and where to get the paint.

I kinda wanted to paint my crome grill black. And have headlight blaclouts with my molten red piant. But after screwing up my chevy cobalt grill ...I think I would have it done at a shop. Unlike most 2rd cobalts mine came with a crome grill and not paint matched like most. To make a long story short I painted it with dupli color black spray paint and it looked horrible

So do I just sand it down and then paint it? I found an exact match with Dupli-Color paint. A guy down the street from me has a body shop so he is going to put a clear coat on it for me.
