Dash lights out
Have 2002 ram 1500, 4x4 , 5.9L, 4door full size PU ; third time for problem-- ;
turn on lights at night & all lights inside & out work fine including dash dimmer -- at some point dash cluster lights go bright and dimmer does not affect anything.
There are no "faults" showing on dash--- ALL FUSES good in "Main box"... ( Tap / pound/ on wire harness , firewall connectors , and dash without any flicker---
Park truck, shut Head lights off and cluster is still bright-- dimmer has no effect and on "dim" --- shut engine off and dash cluster lights still ON and remain on irreguardless of switches moved on over head console or anywhere on dash including headlight and dimmer, restart truck with no changes in anything

There are NO faults showing on cluster. All fuses still good in main fuse box--( tap / pound / on fuse box and fire wall connectors etc with NO results of any kind.
Approximatelyfifteen minutes after engine shut down and headlights off--- dash cluster goes out on its own.
Restart and there are NO cluster lights on gauges or tack or speedometer but have radio , controls lights and over head console lights working fine including dimming from dimmer...
FIrst time Dealership in PA said it was PRE to tranny problems and said there was serious problems and fixed trannythat he said was totally gone( 59K miles) but computer could NOT diagnose....and dash lights were working ( middle 2005 ) after repairs with no work done on computer or dash or wiring or fuses.
Second time was in Kansas JUNE / 2007 /-- had cluster ordered up but discovered in fussing with over head console one afternoon while cluster was ordered up , that lights came back on after being out for three weeks.....
All has been fine since summer of 07----( today is 3/27/08),,,,,
Have lost "Combination" to "reset" computer for dash lightsin over head cluster ????
ANY HELP out there ??
