i am planing to buy fm 50 hd but what is the differences between them (as title says)?

i am leaning to just to replace the muffler. how much a shop did cost you for the install?

 

think its only $100 at most to install but if u got the scratch id go with true dual exaust and some headers. faster the air can get out the better. sounds good to.

if its sound ur looking for a lot of people say to dump right off the muffler as it produces a genuine sound. cant go wrong with flow master

 

The cat back will be a muffler and all the pipe behind it.A cat back replaceseverything behind the cats (well the Y pipe in this case)The muffler will be just that, the muffler only.

A shop shouldnt charge you much more than $25 if you supply the muffler. Thats what they charged me to replace my stock muffler.

 

I went a magnaflow 3 inch in and dual 2.5 out. Aluminized pipe from the muffler back and 18X4 inch stainless tips. Shop charged me 250 for it.

 

If you buy the cat back kit it is very easy to install yourself if you have a impact.

If you just get the muffler your shop will have to fit some pipe to get it hooked into your existing pipe.

 

25 buck?!?!?!? it is great price. i changed my mind that i will get 40 delta cuz it is cheaper than 50 hd cost.

pep boys selling 40 delta for 89.99 plus 6% tax so that adds up to 95.39 bucks

 

Just keep 1 thing in mind, how loud or quiet do you want it? a 40 is kinda loud a 50 is fairly quiet...a nice low throaty rumble.

 

i am not buying full catback kit but will do custom catback

 

Also keep in mind the 40 dosnt flow well enough for the hemi (flowmaster admits this) flowmaster designed the super 44 for use with the hemi. I personally have the 50HD and am very happy with it, still has a great sound but isnt as loud in the cab as with a 40

 

Thats just what the muffler shop charged me to install the muffler. I already had the muffler, I pulled if off my firebird before I sold it.The muffler cost $75 from summit.
