2007 Dodge Ram 1500 Wheels, Plastic
Upon changing the tires on my 2007 Dodge Ram, it was discovered that the wheels which I purchased new from the dealer, came with plastic wheels. Has anyone else purchased this type of wheel?
I am now in the process of selling the wheels and purchasing custom black type wheels and the M/S Toyo tires. I want a 17" X 8.5" wheel. Does anyone have any suggestions on the brand of wheel I should look at or purchase?
Thanks for any suggestions.....

Yes, these are commonly referred to as chrome clad, including the Ram Nightrunner wheels (the SRT 10 wheels are different). They are basically an aluminium wheel with a chromed plastic cap. It is a cheap *** way for Dodge to "up charge" you for a normal wheel.

Well, I hope you have better luck with your wheels than I have with mine. I took my 2007 Dodge into a large tire company for a balance. Well the young man working on the ballance, put the cone on wrong. Needless to say it created an over size center hole on the plastic wheel. The tire shop purchased a new wheel from Dodge, which cost the tire shop $530.00 for the one wheel. So that's why I have gone to an off road type wheel and a 17" X 8.5". Really works out much better.
