Default Any Hemi Ram owners here?

Hi guys. I am looking at buying a 04-05 Ram Hemi in the next year. I have been researching them alot and have heard nothing but praise. I talked to my neighbor who is one of the head mechanics at a local Dodge dealer where I live. He said that the Hemi was a motor with better throttle response, but they had "soft" cams in them (lobers were wearing down?) and they were constantly in the shop for the cams and other things. I have never heard this in all my other research. I know there are a few Hemi owners here, so have you guys had any problems with anything on your Rams. Any positives/negatives that you have had? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks a lot,
Chris

I have never heard of any problums with the new hemi's. The 2003's made in late 2002 had some bad valve springs but most were fixed before thay were sold. The hemi as a hole is one solid motor with lots of power. Hope this helps

My only problem is that I'm getting 9.9MPG in my 2004 Hemi.

I've got a 03' Hemi and the thing is solid. I have had no problems with my engine. I just got T-Booned buy a BMW going 35mph and pushed sideways 3 lanes and the truck took it like a champ. the damage was all to the outter shet metal. It did bend my upper control arm into a U however no one in my truck was hurt. If I would have been driving another rig im sure my passanger would have been in the hospital. So the Ram is a safe rig. But really the Hemi is sweet. I put a K&N Series 77 intake on it and you can really notice the diffrence.

First I've heard of the cam problem, either on here or otherwise. Ditto on the biggest prob...get friendly with your favorite gas station attendant. Other than that it's just been odds and ends wrong. Doesn't seem like we've got any single real problem.

I love my HEMI. I've never heard of the cam problem. I work at a dodge dealership and we've had ONE Hemi come in the shop w/the Valve Spring issue.

I've had few simple things on my truck go wrong...Brake Light Switch, Front Brakes (Warped Rotors, was a problem on the 2003s), O2 Sensor, and a Catalytic Convertor (I think that was my fault, from when I installed my Flowmasters, it broke a weld, probably from me beating on the muffler). Everything was covered under warranty, with no questions asked.

But, yes, get comfortable w/your gas station attendant, My truck has never met a station it didn't like. Also, it likes atleast the mid-grade (89 octane) my would spark knock when running 87.

Thanks guys. Exactly what I was looking for. I knew going into it about the mileage. My feeling on the subject is there are enough "tree huggerS" out there driving 4 cyl. (except some like the SRT4) that are trying to save the enviroment that I need to make up for them. Sorry if that offends anyone here. I was just worried about the major components. Engine, trans (which I heard was fixed), and rear/s. The small things I am not worried about, its the things that were oging to be constantly going wrong.
Thanks a lot,
Chris

P.S. My other car is a SS454 Chevelle that gets about 5MPG. I am very freindly with all the attendants around here[8D]

No problems yet with mine, I have an 05 QC with the Hemi, gas for mine is average 13 to 20 and if you really get in it it runs about 6 to 7. 6600 miles on it.

04 hemi bought in march04 with 9000 miles....no problems so far....gas milage is not a complaint for the horsepower...14-15cityand17-19hwy. I think the 4*4's are the ones posting the lower milage as is the case for any 4wheel drive
