Default Antenna Change?

Can I just buy any antenna and change my stock one out? I have already upgraded to an aftermarket HU, but I lost reception to local radio stations when I plugged in the converter from the Chrysler little antenna end to the standard end. Anyway, will any antenna work mounted to the truck?

There are many after-market antennae that will work, but you shouln't have lost any reception. Dumb question time: are you sure the connection on the adapter is secure?
