Need some Help & suggestions- Power Steering Leak
I got a 2004 Dodge Ram 3500 CTD and I was just heading out to go biking with the kids tonight when I saw a nice puddle of fluid under the truck andpower steering box. I thought it was the power steering lines that were loose and I cleaned up the pump and frame of the fluid and they all seemed tight. I started up the truck and place in drive and drove slowly turning both ways.
I place it in park crawled under and I saw fluiddripping out from where steering wheel shaft entering into the pump (has the knuckle and shorter shaft into the steering box. Is there a rubber gasket/seal that can be replaced??? Or do I have to get a complete new pump??? I am already on my second steering pump which got replaced over a year ago. Truck is off the powertrain warranty.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I am going to take to the shop to see but I want to get some heads up on what it may cost and what I am looking at if I just need to replace a gasket or seal.
Thanks,

Is there any type of bleed off valve on this power steering pump? Would some dirt be blocking this to create a pressure build-up to make the pump leak???
Well, it is going to be my third power steering box on my Diesel. It's going to bea rebuild from NAPA for $225.00 and is betterthan trying torepair the seals. However, found out that my track bar pins and bushing are wore out and may have contributed to the premature seal breaking on the pump box.
