Default Engine Cleaning?

I have an 03 ram 5.7 4x4 with 62,000 miles on it. The engine and engine compartmentare the only areas that I have not cleanedsince I bought it new. The aluminium and hose ends are starting to look poor and just needs to be cleaned. Does anybody know a good product that will clean all the aluminium and/or the best way to do it? Thanks...

as for the product, I would look for a good, no corrosive engine degreaser. Maybe something like simple green, or castrol use to make a purple degreaser, worked well. Its a good idea to keep your engine bay clean as well. Helps keep engine temps down, adding to the life span of your engine.

does anyone recommend using water to rinse off simple green or just hand do it. I prefer and have not used any water on my 2007. I wipe it once a month with armor all

I use WD40 on my aluminum parts when I start to see some oxidation. Works great. Spray it on liberally and wipe it off about 15-20 minutes later.

I have not done my truck yet, too new. On my other vehicles I have always used a biodegradable degreaser and spray with a hose, being careful with electronics. I try to do with the engine warm (not hot), I seem to get better results. I let it air dry.

Derricksmash had done a write up on how to clean an engine a few months ago but I can't find it. It looked like he got some good results.
