Default RE: IFS Suspension vs 37's

I'm not saying that you WILL have front end issues with 37" tires on an IFS truck, I know a few guys with big tires who have yet to have any issues. But, statistically, I've personally seen a huge percentage of the guys I know, hunt, ATV and fish with, who have larger tires on IFS trucks have front end issues and break downs off road. Much higher compared to guys with solid front axles with similar lift height and tires and guys with IFS trucks and 35" and smaller tires.
It's your truck, your money and it would be your repair bill. Make your own decision and go with it...

Keep in mind that if you go with a four inch superlift your angles (CV, balljoint, tie rods) will remain at the stock setting as the drop bracketry corrects them. That coupled with a 3 inch body lift will give you the height. 37's are still a big load to push around but atleast your suspension geometry won't be off.

I am running 37" Nitto Mud Grapplers on a 2.5" leveling kit and a 3" PA Body Lift! Just a little trimming and they fit just fine! I took it hunting this past year and had no problems! I have also hit some really big bumps and take it off road often! I just rolled over 50K and have had no front end issues!

That is why I want to go with the 4in lift and then the 3in body lift. I have looked into it and everyone that has had problems with big tires have had a 6in+ size suspension lift on it. When you see those trucks you can see everything at a bad angle and stressed out to the max. I think that the 4in suspension with 3in body would be a good combo to try. It would make everything reallyclosestock, but I would be able to clear a massive tire. I am still trying to decide if I want to do that or not. Remember that I will have 17in rims too so that will help in terms of tire weigh issues.

So is anyone out there running a 4in suspension lift with a 3in body lift? If so please chime in on what tires you are running and if you have had any suspenison problems so far?

Hammer if you read this... have you heard anything about the Cooper STT's? If I did go with 37's I am between those in 37x12.5x17, Toyo MT's 37x13.5x17, or Mick Thomp Baja Claw-Radials 37x13.5x17. Any further info would be great. I know you really like Mic's and Cepeks, but I would appreciate your imput on this one. thanks

I'm guessing Independent Front Suspension but I'm just using general mechanical knowledge to make that guess.

As far as the Cooper STTs...I really like mine (35x12.5x20), Very quiet on the highway good grip on wet pavement and have heard from my brother (33x12.5 on a 98 2500 diesel) that they work good in the mud.

Correct -Independant Front Suspension= little weak, skinny CV's as opposed to a live front axle that was found on the 2nd Gen 1500's and all 2500 & 3500's...

Now I'm hoping that with the current thread being 6" suspension = death w/37s...should I be at all concerned with IFS with a leveling kit + 3" Body Lift + 35s?
