Default CAI

I have been asking around a few different places and everyone is telling me not to get a CAI for my truck because i do some offroading not too serious not yet at least want to lift it first but anyway i was wondering if anyone has had a problem with a CAI in there truck and going offroading thanx for any input

never thought about it.... but i can see mud messing it up....i know my horns are fu*ked because of that....they work but sound like crap!

The theory here is that you are sucking in more dirt, debris, dust and even mud into your intake and throttle body when in off-roading conditions. I don't know how much actually get past the higher performance filters usually associated with CAI's, but without a doubt, when used in these conditions you would have to clean and re-oil the filter much more often.
They do, however make a fix for this. I have one and used to put it on before off-roading and take it off after. It barely makes a difference in flow, however and I can't tell the difference with it on, so now I leave it on all the time.

86Ram, you can always go with an intake like a True Flow, it's a sealed element so mud and water will not affect it like it would with the open cone filter elements.
