Dodge Needs to Recall there EGR Valves
it was probably stuck open if it was running like that. daytona is correct, it doesn't need it to run properly, but you won't pass emissions if you have to worry bout that in your state.
Mine was stuttering and stalling so I shelled out almost 70 bucks for a dealer EGR because I couldn't find an aftermarket one. I will agree that they are a bear to replace too[:@]
I do hear a lot of stories about those things lasting less than 40k miles.

I replaced mine after 4 OBD checks last year around August. They kept telling me it's the gas cap. Idiots. I even replaced the cap. I gotta admit,I don't remember having a problem putting it in tho. With that CAI in there, it makes access to all that **** a lot easier. I had 70 or 75 k on the truck when it failed.
You are lucky you can find one at all. A friends went out on his '05 last year and it took the dealer four weeks to get one. Stated they were going through them like crazy. After he got his installed just in warranty, I figured I'd get one just to keep as a spare, especially since my '04 was just under the mileage his failed at (34k). When I went to the parts man to order one I was told they were now on nationwide back-order, estimated time to have one was six to eight weeks. I said forget it. In hindsight, I should have gotten it so I'll have it, but sometimes you just get pissed and cut your nose to spite you face...[:@]
I understand both the Diablo and SCT are planning to have "EGR Delete/Disable" as an option on their tuners. I guess this just keeps it closed all the time, it's when it is stuck open that people have the idle/stalling issues. This would be nice...

If you need to buy one find a parts store who sell Standard Part. Tell them you need a EGR and the partnumber is EGV828. That is for a 4.7L. It all so comes with a lifetime warrant, all you gaskets and two new bolts.

Yep, the SCT does have the EGR delete as well as the rear o2 delete. Here in PA we have pretty much the same emission inspection as cali, so Im trying to find out if I will still pass inspection if I have the EGR and rear o2 deleted. Im getting SCT next month, im hoping its as good as im hearing
Yea, I'll have one by June or July at the latest. I've had some issues come up that has eaten away at the mod money I had earmarked for the Cam/SCT project. If nothing else comes up, I'll be back on schedule and have a couple of custom tunes by mid-summer...
It should be recalled.
Your local small claims court will probably side with you against Chrysler and the dealership if you want to go that way.
The Emissons Warranty should cover ALL parts involved in pollution control
and in the end it is what the EPA officially says (or C.A.R.B in Ca)
not what Chrysler or the local dealerships says
that determines what parts are covered at no charge.
