Tranny stuck in 2nd
Well today i put in my Jet 180 t-stat (btw, thanks Duane from 3rd strike) and decided to give it a drive to see the temp difference. As I was comming towards a light that was turning yellow, i stepped on it to beat the light... well, it went to down shift and then stayed at 3000 rpms in 2nd gear for about 2-3 seconds, then started to get up and go. After that had happened, when it would go into 3rd the rpms would just climb like i was in neutral and would not go at all... so i maunally put it into 2nd and started my drive back home... along the way i would throw it back in to D and again rpms would climb and i wouldnt go any where... now when i stop it doesnt down shift into 1st at all, even if i manually shift it down into 1st.
there is 114K on her and no warrenty left... would anyone be able to point me in the right direction? also, i havent checked the DTC's yet because i am just to pissed off right now.

Sounds like you've discovered the weak 2nd prime problem first hand????
I do hope you haven't.
There's a known problem I believe, whereby when you Kickdown into 2nd prime from 3rd at speed, the auto box grenades.
A lot of people aware of this, tend to shift manually into 2nd after a pause, then floor it and change up on the column.
Read off the codes and post up.
In the meantime, keep your fingers crossed.

Same exact thing happened to me. It ended up being the tranny solenoid locking up. Good news for me was that it happened under warranty so I can't give you a cost on the repair. I'll try to find my post about it and link it so you can see.
I found the link with the code that I was getting.

Well I found the code its bringing up, P0700. I looked it up in my Haynes manual and it says Transmition Control System (MIL Request)... so would my TCM be taking a dump? and what is this MIL request crap?
BTW, i was also crossing my fingers on the auto box deal[X(]
