No lsd is limited slip differential. If one tire starts spinning then the other will too.

as I said earlier 75 140, mmstar has an 02 which requires a diff weight. If you dont have LSD you dont need to worry, my buddy has an 02 non LSD, 95k never changed it.
If you do really plan on paying someone to do it every time or even doing it yourself every 15k just go and out in a Detroit locker or auburn. It'll work out to almost the same price, you wont need to change as often and you'll get a better LSD.
Toyo advises around 120-150k miles before you change the oil.
This is just done to make chrysler money, more people coming in to have it done, it'll save them a lot of money if they catch the clips before they grind the gears cause it would be a warranty claim then. Also your magnet should catch it before you grind your teeth.

did you use a razor blade? That and brake cleaner are the easiest way to get that off, its a bitch without em. You can buy a gasket if you didn't want to deal with rtv next time. Did you have a steady bead and did you loop around each hole? Some people mess up and just run a line without looping every bolt hole.

Since you dont have LSD there shouldn't be much, just some lil metal filings but other than that nothing should really go wrong.

Theye make a clear rear diff cover, think that's pretty cool.

i saw the clear cover yesterday...looked cool but i dont think id put it on mine. id get one of those nice ones...the black with the chrome lines if it was a 4wd and i planned on keeping it...but i left it stock. i got MOST not all but most of the red **** and i used a blade...not a razor blade but a metal blade thing...no brake cleaner though, wish i knew about that before but its already done. and yes i looped it around bolt holes....it beaded perfect, that RTV stuff is a bitch to get out of the tube..i had to squeeze that stuff pretty hard to get a nice bead going. i just read the DIY on it in the DIY section.....mine has the exact same gears he does. well they looked the same anyways. pretty easy job besides getting the crap off.

thanks for all the info. I was wondering what is the bestway to find out if I have LSD. Its a 05 ram 1500 2wd quad cab if that makes a difference. looking at some the comments about those clips started to scare me a little. had no look trying to find the DIY on this forum. By me having a 2wd I should be only changing my rear axle fluid right or wrong?
