Default Front-end window tinting

I want the front windows tinted. The sun is too hot on the front. What is the darkest I can get in California? What % looks the best on the front windows? Do you tint the side windows and the windshield? What have you guys done? Pics?

i think there is a website you can go to that has all the states tinting regulations. From what I remember its illegal everywhere to tint the front windshield. I havent done it yet on my ram but i know you can get a brow, which is about 6-8" of tint at the top of your windshield to help keep out sunlight at a viewing distance. I normally get 5% up there but im sure its very illegal to get any tint over your whole windshield. I've seen people get 35%, if you go darker you wont be able to see anything at all at night.

my local tint shop won't tint the front windsheild says it is illegal . but i can get the tint guy there to tint it for off the property.
he says not to go any more than like 35 on the tint, as that wont stand out as much. says he will not be responsible for any trouble i might encounter with the local police and will deny any knoweldge of my actions.

yeah thats true...any place that does do illegal tinting wont even get you a receipt for it. i have 20% on my front 2 windows to match my rear bc it looks dumb with no window tint in my opinion. im thinking of getting 20% layered on top of that too, but ive always had 5% tint on my previous vehicles. I think it looks so good.

The legal tint in CA isnt worth getting. I live in socal and got mine done by the tint pros. All they said was they werent liable for any tickets. I matched the back and it is a night and day difference. Next time you get in your truck just count how many people tint their windows. Theres so many you wont have any issues with the cops. Cops have driven by me and don't even care. just don't do any thing stupid where they would pull you over. Just do it. I think mine was 20% im not sure but it matches the back. The only thing is since the back windows are factory tint, they new front tint is a different shade. its no big deal but if it has to be perfect you should tint the whole thing.

radrickshemi, that is what i want it to look like. Yes, iv'e had the uni-brows on the windsheald before on prev cars, but I think I want to do the side windos and the uv protectent and a unibrow on the windsheald, but im gonna wait on things for the windsheald because i have two chips in it that are getting bigger, gonna have to get a new one, so i dont want to have it done and then have to do it again.

I might do 50% on my whole windshield....I have some buddies with 35 on their windshield. It's really not too hard to see at night, but I'd rather go a little lighter to be on the safer side.
