rear end lowering clamps

i was just snooping around ebay for some kits that will drop my rear end to level it with the front. the kit looks like four home-depot style clamps that clamp both the ends of the rear leaf springs. and i was wondering if this kind of drop technique will work and if its a smart idea if i wanna drop the rear
