Default Radio wiring question

I just bought an Motorola HF850 handsfree Bluetooth kit for my 2006 1500 SLT Qcab....and I need some guidance on the wiring. One of the wired is to connect to the mute on the factory CD/radio unit...to mute the radio when the call comes in. And instead of paying big$$ for a wiring harness...I just want to tap into the correct wire for the mute!! Anyone out there with any advice or direction??

From a site: "...some radios don't support that..." My bet is the factory HU fits that bill. Which factory unit do you have?

I have the stock 2006 Cd/am/fm player...but it does have the MUTE button, that is why I assumed that is would support the function??

Hmmm. A mute button and a mute wire are not the same. Does it have an outboard amp? If so, pressing "mute" might send a signal down a wire to the amp. I'm guessing here. When I removed my HU, it was just ye olde single CD and radio.
