Default Check engine light...no code

I have a 2004 Dodge Ram 1500 Sport and had a check engine light come on today. I tried the on-off-on-off-on trick with the key but nothing ever happens to the odometer. Is this option not available on 2004's? Or am I just doing things wrong...i tried on and off, on and back on step, on and acc...nothing works...the check engine light is still on. Any help would be appreciated.

Sounds weird to me, on-off technique should work on the 04's, weird its not flashing the code.

Didnt work on my 02 either,

Crawl under the truck just behind the cab and look on the fram rail. There is a carriage with a black box in it. The Vapor Canister. The Box has several hoses connected to it for vacuum testing the fuel system emissions. The large hose is the one that was / is cracked on mine causing and EVAP code to come up. The hose connects vertically on one end and has no retainer ring (that one is split about 2" right down the side of the hose) the other end is attached horizontally and it has a plastic retaining ring and it is cracked just behind the ring. Also earlier on I heard a hissing noise coming from up near the driver door.. I finally got under the truck to find a aluminum tube connected at a 70ยบ angled joint with a rubber tube boot. The boot has split and is a part of this same vac test assembly. The rubber used on this system is very questionable IMO.

Hope this helps. Bob
