Default Performance questions

looking to do some minor upgrades hoping for better gas mileage. Truck is an 02 ramm 1500 quad cab 2wd 5.9 gas motor w the factory 20's. Here come the questions.

Which spark plugs are best?
Which wires are the best?
Is it worth doing a throttle body spacer?
Which intake would be best?
Flowmaster or Gibson cat back?
Any other mods I should look into instead?
Which oil and filter?

Get rid of the factory 20's and get some lighter weight 17's or 18's and you will get better milage and more performance.

Good tune up using synthetics will help. I agree with ditching the factory 20's in favor of some light weight aluminum 17's, then you should look into a Cat-back exhaust, CAI or at least a premium drop-in and tuner...

I have a 2002 Dodge Ram 1500 Quad Cab 2wd 5.9L 20" stock tires
I'm also looking to improve gas milage and performace.
I use Mobil 1 5W-30, and a Mobil 1 filter.
I'm planning on using Bosch Platinum Ir Fusion spark plugs, 40 Series Delta Flow Flowmaster
We'll see how it works.

How much do the factory 20's weigh? I've looked at Centerline forged 20's, and they claim from 24-28 lbs per wheel.

Ok, you asked for it, are you sitting down? The factory 20x9 chromes come in at a whopping 42 lbs, WHOA, I know the tire dealer always told me to go with 17's or 18's and now I REALLY know why! And people wonder why they wear out their suspension parts with these heavy 20's? Unsprung weight it is a KILLER.

So how much do 17's or 18's weigh? I know Centerline brags on how light their wheels are because they are forged instead of cast, but how much does a cast 17 or 18 weigh? ANd won't the tires have to weigh at least a little more to make up the difference in height?

Had a 1996 Doge Ram 1500, with 5.9L I don't know the differences between your and mine but I went with-

1. Bosch Plugs second most expensive
2. Summit Wires
3. No throttle body
4. AEM air intake system
5. No exhuast just y pipe with 5x24 tips (sounds great)
6. Jet Stage two plug in/and a cam to add a little power with a lope
7. fram oil filter with valvoline 10w-30

hope this helps
