Im sure this has been asked before but I've been searching for 30 min and found nothing.

What mileage improvements do you get with the difference settings of superchips? (please specify yr of car) Most interested in te 93 oct tune.

My main concern is figuring out which of the 3 settings gives you the best mileage?

I know we gain about 15-20 HP with the 93 but is there any hp gain with 87 tune?

I will also beordering a Smackbooster (hydrogen booster) by the end of the month, so any info on this will be helpfull.

 

I got another 3 more mpg with the superchips on the 91 setting. And with the added torque my MDS stays on alot more resulting in much better fuel economy. I'm sure even the non MDS trucks get more mpg as long as you keep your foot out of it.

 

Honestly not sure if I saw any MPG improvement, but I did see improvement with the throttle response of the truck. My MPG's did not get worse though. I get between 11-13 in the city and the one time I took it for a long haul I got 16 MPG. I only run it on the 91 perf. setting. Tried it once on the 87 setting and I didn't like it.

 

Ram 2500 with 34 gallon tank... with the non tuned and 87 tuned I got around 280 to a tank... little extra juice but not much. With the 91 and running 93 (no 91 octane around here) I get around 320 for the tank and a lot more fun... probably would get better milage if I didn't mess around so much

 

I run the 91 tune with 92 gas in it and saw a nice improvement in MPG over stock. When I cruise at the speed limit (65) I average about 20 and get around 18 when I cruise at a normal speed (75 - 80). Around town I average a good bit less but that is probably bc I am in the throttle a lot driving on the city streets. It is hard to resist with the nice power bump that you get from the tuner on the 91 setting.

 

So do you figure that the improved performance while tuning your truck on performance mode has made enough of a difference to offset the extra cost of running a more expensive fuel?

 

If you think about it it only comes out to about 2 bucks or so extra a tank. Plus like everyone has said you do get a nice little boost of power. Even with my stock exhaust I can tell a difference, and once I open up the exhaust I am sure I will see even more.

 

In my 08 I have done all the tunes and really don't see too much difference although I havent had a chance to really look close yet as I have just 3K miles.... I get the mid grade fuel and that seems to get as good as I can plus the mid grade has all the good additives that the super has with less cost.

 

I get worse mileage with higher grade stuff. I usually use 87 in the Hemi. Yesterday I drove 120 miles and reset the gas mileage thing before I started. It was 60 miles uphill to where I was going, from about 600 feet to 2,500 feet. When I got there the average was 20.4. When I got back home the average was 21.9 for the whole trip. Freeway speed was averaging about 70. I have a QC longbed. No tuner either.

20.4 and 21.9, uphill 200 feet then down? Wow, I didn't get that in my truck on any of the settings even before I lifted it. I only wish. I increased my mpg's about 4 mpg on the performance setting. I can't remeber who but someone did the math with the cost of the different octanes and their mpg gain (which was close to mine) and came up with it being better with the higher octane, so, I keep mine on performance. Hell, my wife's Beemer gets high octane, why shouldn't my truck?
