Default CAI clarification

With the price of gas going up ($4.50 gal up here in Canada) and the need for more pulling power (when pulling my 5th wheel), I've informed myself on CAI and better flowing exhausts. My questions is two-fold:

1. Does putting one on my truck (CAI or exhaust) really improve pulling power and/or gas mileage that much? Or won't I notice a SIGNIFICANT improvement until I put both on?

2. I've never known anyone putting on an aftermarket CAI ... I've read on some of these forums that they are VERY loud (especially when pulling a trailer). Is that true? Can anyone give me an idea as to what they "sound" like? I've heard different mufflers, just not trucks with different CAI's!

Thanks guys!

CAI will give u good 1 to 3 mpg depending the how cold the air is.
free flowing exhaust will give u another good 1 to 3 mpg.

cai will make exhaust louder because more air burns along with gas. blah blah u will get idea.

i am not sure about towing a trailer with cai that makes loud noise.

The Ram Hammer is suposed to be the best thing sinse sliced bread! I have no experience with one but I think they made 18 additional pound feet of torque with one on their dyno. Thats a huge gain!

Is it as simple as to say with both exhaust and CAI that I'd be looking at a 2-6 mpg increase?

I put a magnaflow exhaust on my truck and gained 1.5 mpg. I put on a trueflow cai and lost 2 mpg. So I put my factory breather back on, and got back the 2 I had lost.
