Default Upgrades for better towing

I have an 05 1500, 4.7 v8:

I originally bought it to use during a house renovation project. I'd like to keep it, but I need it to be able to tow a 2700 car on a (2000lb?) steel open trailer. I have towed the trailer empty, and have not been very pleased (bounces and is in between gears)... I currently tow with a 05 VW Touareg and it's surprisingly great (air bag suspension, 6 spd auto, auto leveling, blah blah blah) but I'd like to get rid of the thing (another story for another day). My question is whether or not it is possible and or worth it to upgrade any necessary components on the 1500 to make it more suited for towing... Adding the 7 pin connector, brake controller harness, tranny cooler are musts. How about suspension and diff? Any experience would be greatly appreciated.

[edit: I have already added the bolt-on Mopar class III hitch]

...Or should I just dump it and get something more aptly suited (diesel 2500, etc). No motor swaps in my future.

I was implying people will say you should've gotten a Hemi, not that you need to do an engine swap. No way.

Here's a couple threads that may answer your question:

https://dodgeforum.com/m_1253393/tm.htm

There's a search feature at the top of the page if you have any future questions. And there's also a FAQ thread as well.

I have got three words: Cummins Turbo Diesel. You can't go wrong with this motor, it will pull that car and you won't even know its back there. Yeah diesel is high, and the motor is a $6100 option, but it is worth it especially if your pullin. Plus alot less maintenance than a gas vehicle.
