Default MDS question

Does the 2006 MDS system have a fan and clutch that would need to be replaced or does the MDS use Solenoids to active and deactive its self. The reason I am asking is because my truck was making a funny noise at about 1300 rpms when getting on the gas from a coast and they are saying that the MDS fan and clutch need to be replaced but all I can find is that the MDS uses solenoids. Thanks for the help.

LOL! No, no fan and clutch. Completely internal to the engine. Who is "they"?

Is this a DODGE dealership, or a lawnmower shop? Run, don't walk, away from that dealer! If they're not pulling your leg, they're idiots. Just for fun, you might get them to show you the fan and clutch forthe MDS.

You probably misheard them...sounds to me like they're saying your clutch fan is bad and is causing that noise at 1300rpms. It's probably not unlocking..

That might be what they had meant but I repeated what he told me and he said yes. He said that it was going into MDS mode but that it was sluggish coming out of it if I amnot hard on the gas and they are going to try to replace the fan and clutch of the MDS to see if that help.So not sure but I will find out when it comes in. I should have asked what part numbers they are ordering so I would know what they are for sure getting.

Be very careful here! DO NOT leave your truck with these geniuses. "Fan & clutch" does sound like the cooling fan and clutch. Very carefully compare what parts they show you they want to replace. If they look like the big fan and finned gadget at the front of the motor and partially obscured by the fan shroud (says "Caution - Fan" on it), it will have NO effect on your MDS. It may fix the funny noise, but it has nothing to do with the MDS. While you're waiting for the parts, see if you can wiggle the fan (MOTOR OFF!) perpendicular to the front of the motor. If you can, you may need a water pump.

To late to not leave it with them I did that last night. Dropped it off first thing in the morning they had it all day I called and they where about to take it out for a spin to see if they fixed it. At that time they where thinking it was that cat. converter for some reason. So they wanted to keep it over night and see if it would do it first thing in the morning. So today when they called me this afternoon that is when they told me about the fan nad clutch thing. I guess best thing is that everything is under the warrenty so I am not paying for it yet.
