Default Smooth as silk!

I replaced my front brake pads and rotors this morning. I had never done any work like this before to my truck but I figured it was time I start learning a little bit since I am approaching the big 40 soon. Anyways wanted to say that it was pretty easy to do and now my truck stops as smooth as can be, no shimmy at all now. I was so confused after researching on here about what to go with, I ended up just getting some raybestos semi-met. pads and rotors (150.00). I know they are probably not the best, but I figured they would be a step up from what was on there. I just want to say thanks to everyone for all the info that is passed around on this site.

Forgot to ask is there a break in period for the pads or the rotors??? I saw nothing in either one of the boxes. I thought I remember someone saying something about a break in period. Thanks

What they are talking about is "bedding" the pads, so that the pads and rotors can get adjusted to each other. Basically that means the high spots on each one are worn down enough so there is full contact between them.

The easiest way to do this is to make a few low pressure stops from 30-5 mph, then a few from 30-0 mph. Then drive lightly for a couple of days. Avoid panic stops unless necessary (new pads are cheaper than new sheet metal!). Then enjoy your new brakes!
