Default Hard starting

04 QC HEmi 55,555 rolled by on the odo today. Stock other then drop in K&N. I've had a handful of starting issues over about the last 2 years. Maybe three times I have tried to start it and let it crank maybe 5-6 seconds before I let it rest with nothing. I wasable to turn it off for a few seconds and try again, it started imediately. Also over about the last year it has started getting slower and slower on start up, almost 3 seconds this morning. I need to give the fuel pump a sec to build pressure in the morning to see if that helps. What other sugestions. I did plugs (yes all 16) at about 40,000.

Could be a weak fuel pump...have you checked the pressure at start-up and while running?

When you say "slower and slower"....................do you mean cranking speed??

If so, that's your battery right there.
Your truck should spin over easily with no change in speed if the battery's healthy.
I just changed my battery out, as it was not keeping charge very well.
You know, If I had the sounds on for like 10-15 mins withoput the truck running, when I tried to start the truck, she would turn over very slowly and once, not at all.
When I changed it, i got an extra 2-3 mpg better fuel consumption.
I figure the alternator was fully loaded charging up the goosed battery. The new one doesn't load it so much and therefore, I get better mpg.
That's a hand calculated MPG gain btw.
Hope this helps?
Al.
