Default Superchips Help/Opinions

I 'm thinking of chipping my truck, but I'd like your thoughts about this.

First, I'm considering a 3815 programmer, but now there is the new Cortex---is it really worth the extra cash. I looked at the "feature" page, and they really didn't look that much different.
H.P. and torque numbers are the same.

I'm mostly thinking of using it to optimize the fuel maps to get better MPG--I put on a LOT of miles for work--just crossed 76K.

While I still like the occasional WOT thrill, I am for the most part a fairly conservative driver.

It is my intentions to open the exhaust later, and eventually an e-fan, but other than that, stock.

Let me know what you think, please offer any suggestions you might have.

Not familular with the Cortex, but I am really happy with the Superchips 3815. I tried the Hypertech first and only left it in my truck for a day! Superchips 3815 was a noticable gain in HP and 2.5 MPG increase on 87 octane fuel!

Hope that helps

I don't think I did the math right, but with your increase of 2.5mpg, that's about 15% better than stock (assuming 17mpg hwy) so breakeven point for the $400 chip would be 8000 miles, or maybe it's 800....Anyone ever figure this out?

If it's only 800 miles to break even, it would certainly be worth it, not so sure about the 8k though. I've been thinking of getting one of these as well, but man they are expensive.

Thanks guys for the responses. Mileage wouldn't matter much for me as I'm driving over 25,000 per year. I would just happen a little sooner or later. Either way, its a win!!
