cant locate female harness end under dash of 2004 ram 1500 for electric brake control
hi all, hope some one can help me out here. i bought a 2004 dodge ram 1500 qc 4x4(with the factory tow package installed including the 7 prong trailer plug)two years ago.
A year later some yahoo stole it. anyway i mention the stolen part of it, because there was a bag with some connectors in the glove compartment, which went missing when stolen.
Recently i purchased a travel trailer, thus i bought the electric brake control unit and the sales agent at the part store sold me a four prong female harness to wire to the brake control, I mounted the brake control and then looked under the dash to locate the male end that is suppose to be there, which i havent found and what brings me to this post of this forum.
Can one of ya help me on this one im alittle stumped . the only wire harnessi saw factory taped to the main wire had a 2-prong fuse attached to it.
thank you for your comments
its a white connector located behind the e-brake close to the firewall and a few inches up from the floor board; if I remeber correctly there is like a wiring harness that runs right infront of it. it is hard to see and even harder to get too.
hey thanks for the heads up on that connector. i guess i just have to look alittle harder, might even be behind the carpet. i read some other old posts with a fellow who had a hard time locating the connector in his 07 ram. hope i can plug in a go everything works.
thanks again i take a peek for it
cheers
Well good news to anyone who faces this same frustration.
I went out on my lunch hour and took another look by the emergency brake, to locate the male end of the factory electric brake harness.
Man it was better than winning the lottery, i got a tip that the einsteins who may have work for one of the other big 3, might have located it on the wad of wire that runs into that translucent wire junction box under your dash to the right of the emergency brake lever right above the carpet line.
well sure enough i stuck my hand up there while looking through the emergency brake release handle and twisted a square connector to the left so i could see it, well to my satisfaction there was a tag that said " ELECTRIC BRAKE" I plugged the aftermarket four prong female into it and the brake control module lite up every time i hit the brake pedal, we will see if it actually does its' job without anymore Nasa technology snags when i go pick up my trailer on the weekend.
so if any of you run into this same delima stick your hand above that white junction box and torque what ever ya find to the left it should be there.(unless the wiring dude in the plant being a jerk and didnt check to see if he did his job right)
i sure miss my 67 barracuda she was alot easier in the wiring department.
take care hope this helps anyone after me who runs into this same frustration.
peace.
