Best trailer option for a 1500 HEMI?
I have an 04 1500 QC with a HEMI and I'd like to tow my 93 Jeep Wrangler with it .... so what is the best way to go about towing it?
Am I better off getting a bumper pull (receiver hitch)or a gooseneck?
I know weight is a big factor but assuming the gooseneck only weighs a tad more then the bumper pull is it the better way to tow overall?

Can you get a goose-neck hitch for a half-ton truck? I suspect you're almost over the limit anyway. How much does the Jeep weigh? You definitely DON"T want a bumper hitch! A receiver hitch should be fine as long as you don't exceed the GCWR and you have trailer brakes.
I should clarify ... by bumper pull I meant the trailer type. I would use a receiver hitch and not the bumper itself
I'm not positive how much the Jeep weighs but I do need to weigh it. Stock curb weight is 3200lbs and most of the built ones weigh 3800-4000 so lets just say 4500 to be safe. Ifthe QC is rated for ... 8900 #'s (correct me if I'm wrong) that leaves me with 4400 for the trailer... not that I'd want to be towing at the maxrating all day.
As far as getting the gooseneck ....
WhenI bought mine I actually looked at a few of them that had ***** in the bed already, so unless those were all custom fabbed I don't think it's a problem.

Suggest the goose hook-up for sure; your 1500 can handle it if properly installed; may want to look into high quality air bags too.
If you don't choose this route then use an equalizer heavy duty receiver hitch and it should suffice fine - just not as easy to handle in tight spots as the goose and more restrictive on the weight distribution.

Strange,
I went to dodge.com/towing and got this:

Is that just a typo? Why does it list the 3.92 gears twice with different numbers?

i'd do the gooseneck also. i also put in the tembren overload springs...just big rubber pancake looking things that bolt on in place of the bumpstops and some adjustable shocks...makes a big difference w/ there is lots-o-weight in the bed. i've got an 18' car hauler...bumper hitch...and when she's loaded w/ a few thousand pounds you can really tell...i'd much rather have the gooseneck

probably for 17" and 20" wheels.

Is that more because of the wheel size or the tire size? if it's the wheels I'd be interested to see what the stock wheels are rated for.
