just stop using the remote. stick it somewhere in your house and forget about it.

I tred the steps also and no chime. It doesnt seem to work. Are the 06's different? Not sure what else. Tried it several times

I have an 07 2500 and it does not work for me either. When it goes in for service I'll have the garage do it for me

I have an '08 and the procedure does differ in mine. Since the '06 and '07 are closer to the '08, maybe this will work for you guys. Directly from my manual:
