Recharged the K&N today
This is really for the people who do not realize you should do this every so often.
You can pickup a recharge kit at any part store that sells K&N filters. It consists of a cleaner and oil.
1. Remove the filter
2. Soak both sides with the cleaner (sit for 10 minutes)
3. With light water pressure wash the filter (wash from the "clean" side of the filter). Note, sometimes bugs or whatever are stuck in the creases. Use a flat head screw driver to knock them loose, then re-rinse.
4. Let it dry before you oil. I put it in my oven @ 100 degrees. Did not hurt the filter and was dry in 30 minutes. I recommend if you do this try to keep the rubber parts of the filter off any metal in the oven.
5. Oil the filter. Oil on the side that gets dirty, trying to apply the spray oil to the top of the creases. Let sit for an hour.
6. Check for any "light" spots on the filter and apply more oil to those spots. If you apply more oil let it sit again for an hour or so.
7. Re-install filter.
